A customer once brought N.J. Diamonds a 14-karat yellow-gold band purchased from a catalog. She had ordered a size 13, but the ring measured as a size 12. After returning it to the seller for correction, it still came back in the wrong size. With her wedding approaching, the available options were limited because the lightweight band could not simply be altered without added risk.

What to confirm before ordering
- Exact ring size: Ask how the seller verifies the finished size and what happens if it arrives incorrectly.
- Width and thickness: Millimeter width alone does not show how substantial the band will feel.

- Metal and purity: Confirm whether the ring is solid gold or platinum, its karat or fineness, and whether it is plated, hollow, or made from multiple metals.
